Do you believe that your medical records are private?
Do you believe you have control over who sees your medical record? Hoosiers, it isn't looking good!
It appears that your hospitals, labs, employers, and health insurance companies are giving your medical record to an Indiana non-profit who is then reselling YOUR ENTIRE medical record to the government, researchers, and the same entities listed above.

On Sept. 21, we received a text message from a concerned citizen asking for an opinion on the Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) because the County Health department was requesting approval for funds.
After a cursory look, we determined that the IHIE was in fact a significant threat to liberty.
Hoosiers have no idea their personal health records are being exchanged without their knowledge, let alone consent.
Many Hoosiers are under the impression that their records are private, and protected by HIPAA.
HIPAA does NOT protect your records.
HIPAA was designed to create a set of "guardrails" on how your information is shared by hospitals. Your information may still be shared without your knowledge.
JUST like how it is being shared with the IHIE.
HIPAA was the basic set forth by the federal government and it was left up to the states to take further action.

Indiana has failed to do so.
The right to medical privacy has never been more important and the need is only going to grow.
